The Blister Backer Board Is More Than Just a Printed Card

Blister Backer Board do more than provide a surface for graphics.

They help deliver the branding, product information, instructions, and retail presentation that consumers see. More importantly, the blister backer board and its coating form part of the sealing system that holds the plastic shell and product securely together.

For a blister pack to perform properly, the plastic shell and blister backer board need to be compatible. If they are not, achieving a consistent seal can become difficult. This can result in production problems, rejected packs, wasted materials, or packaging that does not perform as intended.

The Coating Makes the Difference

The Blister Backer Board used for blister packaging requires a specialized coating that can bond with the appropriate plastic shell during the customer’s sealing process.

When the blister is sealed, heat and pressure activate the coating, allowing it to bond with the plastic shell.

But there is an important consideration:

Sealing parameters are not one-size-fits-all.

Temperature, pressure, and dwell time can vary depending on the plastic shell, the blister backer boardand, the coating, and the sealing equipment being used.

At Majestic, our blister coating is designed to work with 100% PVC or PET plastic shells. The appropriate sealing conditions, however, should be established based on the specific application and materials being used.

Think of the Blister Backer Board and Plastic Shell as a System

A common mistake is to develop the blister backer board and plastic shell separately and only consider their compatibility during the final sealing process. It is better to consider them together from the beginning.

The plastic shell, board, coating, and sealing conditions all contribute to the performance of the finished blister package.

Getting these materials right early in the development process can help reduce avoidable production issues later.

What Majestic Does

Majestic focuses on what we know best: the blister backer board and its coating. We do not supply the complete blister package or perform the final sealing process. Instead, we provide the board component with a specialized coating designed for blister applications and compatibility with appropriate PVC and PET shells.

Our role is straightforward:

To help customers get the blister backer board component right.

Through established manufacturing processes and quality standards, we focus on consistency in the board and coating we supply.

Because while the blister backer board is only one part of the blister packaging system, it is an important part of the finished package.

The right blister package starts with materials designed to work together.
